DVD review: Jumper

Cert 15

3 out of 5

With his close-fitting overcoat, Hayden Christensen tries to pull off a Keanu-in-the-Matrix number in this entertaining but deeply silly sci-fi romp. The gimmick is that Christensen is a "jumper", one of a select crew of mutants who can teleport at will; their mortal enemies are "paladins", with whom many a battle is to be had here - as well as a cartoon cut-out NSA kill team, headed by Samuel L Jackson. (Christensen receives quite a bit of help from Jamie Bell, playing what must be the world's only Geordie teleporter.)

There's a lot of surface flash on display here, but director Doug Liman never gets anywhere near the franchise potential of his Bourne Identity film.
